A look at what we do
Firefighter's are ready to respond to any challenge. Our staff of Volunteers handle close to 400 calls a year. Day or night 24/7/365 they answer the call for help.
Fires
Ladder 65 and Engine 63 are the go-to trucks for structure fires, car fires and anythings else that can burn. Firefighters use MSA Air Packs that allow them to operate in smoke filled buildings. Thermal imaging cameras help to locate the seat of the fire and detect high heat. Our members respond mutual aid and provide automatic assistance to many area fire departments.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
Our members are skilled in a wide range of extrication equipment like our Jaws-of-Life Tools. Servicing the New York State Thruway and Interstate 490 we have seen our share of large scale accidents. Engine 62 and Rescue 66 can provide stabilization equipment and tools for any job big or small.
Technical Rescue
Our UTV 61 is a go to piece of equipment for anything off road or when mother nature piles up the snow. We are able to deploy the UTV with a track system to assist snowmobiles and reach remote areas for brush fires.
Water Rescue
With the Oatka creek and other small bodies of water in our district we are always ready for water emergencies. Rescue 66 has a Zodiak inflatable boat and motor. We have additional tools and floatation equipment available.
Fire Prevention Education
Students pre-K thru 6th grade are presented annual fire safety education. Our fire prevention day is one of our favorite days of the year. Giving students the tools they need to escape a fire or help someone in need is very important to our mission.
EMS Assistance
Fire personnel assist EMS organizations with CPR, basic first aid and landing zone ground control operations.
